Mrs. Deborah McDermott--2nd - 4th Grade Spanish
Background
Hello, my name is Deborah McDermott, and I am excited to begin my fourth year here at Saint Vincent de Paul. I grew up in Mexico City where I learned Spanish. I have traveled to numerous Spanish-speaking countries, the most recent and most often being Ecuador where my parents had retired and lived for 13 years.
I graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Apparel and Merchandising and a minor in Spanish. I then went to UNO for my Elementary Education degree and my master's in Special Education. After 28 years of teaching, I decided to take early retirement. I taught 14 years for OPS, mostly in 2nd grade and 14 years at Saint Margaret Mary School, where I taught K-8 Spanish.
I look forward to teaching 2nd-4th grade students Spanish through songs, games, and chants. I enjoy seeing the students have so much fun. It's going to be a great year!
